1) Betaab Valley

It  was earlier known as Hagan Valley. But the location’s presently popular name Betaab Valley has been named after the hit Bollywood movie from the 80’s with the same name, that was extensively shot here. It is located just 15 kms away from Pahalgam near to  Chandanwari village. At first glimpse it seems to be a place straight out of a picture postcard. A spread of green pastures, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, tall Deodar trees, and Pine forests is what makes this valley picture perfect. Add to this the breathtaking beauty spread all around is sure to mesmerize you. No doubt why its also a paradise for  nature photography lovers. Its also a favorite of honeymooners too. The cool breeze, green meadows, winding streams, and tall trees adds a romantic tinge to the whole atmosphere.

2) Baisaran Hills

Aptly named as ‘Mini Switzerland’, Baisaran is a lush green meadow resembling the landscape of Switzerland. It is just a throwaway distance of 6 km away from the Pahalgam taxi stand. Known for it’s pristine beauty it provides an excellent option for a leisurely stroll or a family picnic. The tingling green, grass surrounded by thick pine trees gives Baisaran a special carpet-like look that contrasts with the snow white hills. To reach the upper meadows of the Baisaran hills you either need to hire ponies or soaking in the beauty you can take a leisurely walk to reach there. It takes around 2 hours of time, on a leisurely walk to reach Baisaran from the Pahalgam taxi stand. Up there  you will get an amazing view of the vista of Lidder Valley. There you can also get indulged in adrenaline rushing fun filled activities like zorbing and other fun games. The cost of each activities at Baisaran ranges from  Rs 300 to Rs 700. Aru Valley.

3) Tarsar Lake & Marsar Lake

These are the two pristine lakes situated near to pahalgam town. But only way to reach there is by reaching the base town of  Aru and then from there going on a 5 days moderately to difficult trek. The entire trek to reach Tarshar and Marshar lake gives you a perfect chance to enjoy the gorgeous beauty of Kashmir. The trek will give you an experience  that is unpassable. 4) Chandanwari

Chandanwari lies just 15kms from the Pahalgam town and is the starting point for the annual pilgrimage to the Holy Amarnath Caves. It is a place of immense natural beauty that boasts of undulating landscapes that warms hearts of everyone who visits. The drive through the meandering road to Chandanwari itself is a thrilling experience. Up from there you will have the panoramic clear view of the snow-capped mountains. Numerous waterfalls all on the way also makes it a good location for a family picnic.

5) Tulian Lake

Tulian Lake is a glacier fed  lake located at an altitude of 12000 ft, in the upper high reaches of the Kashmir valley. This stunning, sparkling blue water lake can only be reached through a day long trek through the meadows of Baisaran. If you have a spare day after exploring Pahalgam, a trek to Tulian lake is highly recommended. Nestled in pine forests, the lake has a beautiful setting with snow-covered mountains on three of his sides. The picture perfect view with snow-capped hills encircling it, provides an immense natural beauty to gaze upon.  Thus making Tulian Lake a must visit places to visit while in Pahalgam.

How To Reach Pahalgam By Air

The nearest airport to Pahalgam is at Srinagar which is at a distance of 100kms. You can very easily find a taxi to hire so as to reach Pahalgam. It take Rs 2400 to reach Pahalgam from Srinagar.

Jammu Katra is the nearest station from Pahalgam which is at a distance of 240Kms from Pahalgam.

Best Time to Visit Pahalgam

The Best time to visit Pahalgam and the Kashmir valley is during the months of May till late September. You can also visit Pahalgam during the winters  between December and 3rd week of January, so as to enjoy the snowfalls. But the climate will be too cold to venture outside and there will be possibilities of main highway getting blocked due to inclement weather.
